I remember peering out at those words from behind a curtain of teenage hair, and wondering why a band would want to sound like that. I was intrigued. There was something heroic about these musicians and their messy (and often literal) deconstruction of the electric guitar. It was also about time someone reclaimed it from those incapable of playing a note with one leg situated anywhere near the other. But did that justify attacking the thing – that most totemic rock ‘n’ roll artifact – with handtools ?

3 EPs

The first was "Unseen"... the title track owes a large debt to Slab. It starts from a fairly ordinary acoustic bass line and trolls along in a friendly jazz hop way.... ho ho.... only to be punctuated by laughter from Dennis Hopper in Blue Velvet as the track descends into a psychedelic space epic with fuzz bass, huge drums that sound like they were forged from the same furnace as Descension, Miles Davis style mute trumpet and ends in a swirl of dissonant voices..... the laughter was meant to at the sad fuckers drawn in by the beginning........ so if youre hearing it for the first time go with it and stay the journey does take off....

This was really the knda direction I was hoping Sanity Allergy would go in... but that is history.

Some of you may know about Sweet Billy Pilgrim and the Slab connection. Tim is a big fan and has acted as a catalyst for our resumption. Slab

So here we are, drifting in and out of sleep, waiting for autumn.

Just over a year ago we set out to finish songs left over from the demise of Slab. It has taken a long time to get to but soon we will be finished.

The temporary disintegration of Slab wasn’t a pleasant affair it was a time of uncertainty and paranoia. It was a time of disgust. It was worthless. It was a memory best left forgotten.

But there was always something, always something lurking in the extremity, the intensity whether it was beautiful or sad or motionless or deadly, something that needed to be realised to bear fruition and live again.

It had lived in the work I would do following Slab, but it was voiceless and spoke no words. It knew less.

But now it rises again and it will soon come.

And more will follow.
